Overview

St. John the Baptist stands at the threshold of the Gospel as the final prophet and forerunner of Christ. Called from birth to prepare the way of the Lord, he lived a life of simplicity, preaching repentance and baptizing in the Jordan River. Known for his boldness, he spoke truth without fear, even confronting kings. When Jesus came, John humbly pointed away from himself, declaring, “He must increase, I must decrease.” His life and martyrdom reveal a total surrender to God’s mission and a fearless commitment to truth.
